fiesta time

the bathroom was finally completed, I wish I had done a few things a little different but I got what I ordered, now only thing left is to pay off that last credit card. trying to get new carpet put into the bedroom which will complete the total project.

went to see zozobra yesterday with Roger Yolanda & Marianne, wish I didn't have to go to work this morning but they left early and will see them next weekend in Cruces.

reconciling myself to the fact that the family considers me a busy-body butt-in-ski, trying very hard to stay out of the mix, sure miss having E&E hanging around the house though.

pulled all the beans out of the garden today, the lettuces are growing with the recent rain, picked 3 summer squashes.

waiting on a bathroom

the little bathroom remodeling project is finally! in the final phases - tile, plumbing, mirror, vanity, light installed, walls painted, block wall being built. kind of a bigger deal than I thought it would be....

healing up my broken heart, I think this will take longer than a busted toe

ending summer

I can't believe two weeks until the fall semester begins. Tough gardening summer, with the drought, the smoke, the gophers, the bugs....flowers just sat in the ground with no blooms, no zuchini or winter squash growing, some beans but not the usual production. Sad.

summer in NM

came back from green Maryland to a state full of fire. thought the fire in Pacheco Canyon was bad, nothing compared to the Las Conchas. smoke, smoke, smoke. tiny bit of rain, barely enough to dampen the ground. golf game better though, think the practice in Maryland paid off, hope I play OK down at Cochiti, should be interesting to go down there since the entire canyon burned.

have to go in to see Joel Wilner Tuesday, darn toe starting to hurt again, wonder if that nail will ever grow in straight?

Graduation & patience

Going to Boston for my son's graduation has been a good exercise in patience. We had to wait on the runway for 5 hours due to tornadoes in western MA, instead of getting to Boston at 6:30 p.m. we got there at 12:30 p.m. The graduation ceremony itself was an exercise in patience, we had to claim our seats at 7:30 p.m. and the ceremony concluded at 1:45 p.m. At noon I just couldn't take it any more, but hanging out in the hospitality room was just as boring as sitting in the seats. Boston was beautiful, green and blooming. Now I'm down in Hagerstown, also green & blooming, but just hanging around here at Wanda's house also is an exercise in patience! I'm remembering my Angel card and trying to learn to take life moment by moment.

getting ready for the east coast

Yeah - went out and played 18 holes of golf, shot a 97, last Sat. (5/21) and the finger didn't hurt much at all. Putting aquaphor on it to heal up that skin. Going to try 18 tomorrow, weather calling for lots of wind, should be interesting.

Wed. go up to Boston for John's graduation from MIT. He is justly proud of his accomplishments. Wish I was going on a better vacation than Boston/Hagerstown though.

9 days later

was able to take the bandaid off my finger Sat. and Sun. night, however, playing (trying to play) golf was frustrating to say the least. I despair! I keep reminding myself I can hit the ball and know how, it's just the finger!

planted geraniums in pots but am keeping the rest of the plants out of the ground until next weekend, wind too cold

sure enjoyed baking cookies Sun with E&E

6 days later

keeping a band aid on the left ring finger, the swelling and bruising have subsided, but it is a nasty place for a cut, right on the first knuckle, lots of tissue damage. got into the QR pool this morning, the water hurt a tiny bit a first but then I didn't notice. trying to flex the finger and keep it moving.

guess what - won the Staff Excellence Award yesterday (5/12/11), how about that!

back to work

Enjoyed a week in Kauai 4/28 to 5/6, now it is back to work, the longer I'm off the more I dread going back.

Did it again

Saturday I was moving a rock in the front yard and it smashed down on the ring finger on my left hand, right in the middle of the finger. At first I thought I had smashed the bone and crushed the finger, it hurt so bad. I have a doozy of a cut and the finger is blue. Tried to play golf Sunday, futile. When I pulled my fingers across the club handle the strike of the ball made me wince. If I let my fingers relaxed on the grip, the ball simply sailed off into the right field. Even putting was hard.

Tried to work out this morning, could not hold onto any bars, just did cardio and gave up.

Wasn't too bad at yoga, but we didn't do a lot of hand stuff today.

Almost there

two days to go until we leave for Kauai, desperately trying to stay healthy. Pollen at all time high, wind howling but worst is my co-worker just left with a stomach flu. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping I can dodge those ailments.

My toe is healing up, again, I'm hoping sand & surf will coax this nail into submission.

Had a nice trip to Las Cruces with my 4-year old Granddaughter, visiting and buying a computer. Anything I can do to encourage Yolanda to stay in the nursing program and achieve her goals, I'll do it.

springtime

Following up on my injury reports, other than having a cold/flu in January (knock on wood loudly) am staying fairly healthy. Had to go back to the foot doctor in April for another round on the right big toe, the toe nail trying to get ingrown again. Not too bad this time, no shots, just the cutting. Trying to avoid the wind and stay away from pollen.

I'm real sad that my daughter and her husband are restricting visits with me and consequently my granddaughters. I miss having them around and hanging out.
